It's ok if you don't have a vet you can check for fleas ticks or any sign of illness yourself. Be sure to check the shin thoroughly and check for rashes. Take note of your cats behavior or any odd changes. If your cat is vomiting it may because of bad food or not being groomed enough. Sickness sines are fatigue in young cats, diarrhea, disoriented, Hazy eyes. Other options for check ups is going to a local friend or asking an experienced cat owner

Spay or neuter your pet

If you are not planning on breeding your cat then you should do this. Unspayed or Unnueterd cats should never be let outside. Breeding must be planned carefully and not with an unknown parent. You may end up with many cats instead, Cats during heat who have not been mated can become very distressed. Unueterd cats are often less likely to get into accidents.

It is important that you feed your cat at least 2 times a day. Make sure your cat has a balanced diet. Avoid giving your cat cheaper brands of food for these may have to much carbohydrates instead of protein which cats need more than dogs. Change the water at least 3 times a day. Cats are particular about fresh water like us. Cats that eat dry food need more water than canned food. Make sure you give your cat more food then 'treats'. Avoid young children giving your cat candy because cats can't taste sugar and this is not good for there digestive system.

Train your cat to refrain from undesirable behaviors such as scratching furniture and jumping on countertops. Contrary to popular belief, cats can be trained with a bit of patience, effort, and understanding on your part. Cats have a very good sense of hearing this being they are sensitive to loud noises. A loud "NO" should do the trick to get your cat off the dining room table, but you are not around you can have sprays that are foul to cats but we can't smell them also there are vibration devices. Cats can be leash trained but they will always stop to wonder and smell the roses. The siamese breed is particularly good with the leash. Cats will not do tricks like dogs not because there less clever but they simply don't see the point. When cat opens a door it isn't doing this because you think it's particularly clever but to it's own personal benefits.

Some breeds such as persians should be groomed daily while others such as maine coons it can destroy their under coat if you groom them to frequently. If you groom your ca you will have less hair on your furniture. A cat should be brushed in the summer especially.

Even adults need play time. This is important to keep your cat active and entertained. If not active in fun activities at kittenhood your cat may be tottelly bored and unitrested in it's adulthood. Cats can suffer from serious depression if they are not doing anything especialy cats with no fellow feline friends. Play time keeps your cats hunting instincts in tac which is very important. A good toy is put white material even tussue paper on the end of a wire which you can get from a clothes hanger and bend the end od the wire so it is a hook to punch a whole through the cloth so it stays. Wave this toy in the air like a moth and your cat will quite enjoy this.
